SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
This version of Nautilus requires the following system configuration.
- Macintosh¿ Plus, SE, Classic,Classic II, II, IIx, SE/030, IIcx, IIci, IIfx, LC, IIsi, Portable, PowerBooks, and Quadras.
- at least 2 megabytes of RAM (memory).
- System 6.0.4 & Finder¬ 6.1 or later.
- a hard disk is recommended.
- in addition, please set your color monitor to 8 bit (256) color.
- Nautilus does run under MultiFinder¬.
RUNNING NAUTILUS
To run Nautilus, simply double-click on the "Nautilus Shell" application. For faster performance we recommend that you copy the application "Nautilus Shell" (2.8 meg) to your hard disk and open it from there. If you prefer not to do this, Nautilus will run from the CD ROM.
Nautilus contains a number of very memory-intensive multimedia presentations and applications. Should you experience problems due to a shortage of memory you may want to try running under Finder¬ to increase your available memory. In addition, the partition size of the Nautilus Shell application is set to 2000k. If you do not have enough memory to run the Nautilus Shell, then, after dragging it to your hard disk, try setting the partition size down to 1600k.
The Nautilus Shell was created using SuperCard¿ version 1.6 and is System 7 compatible. However, not all the material published on each disc will be. As a result, you may encounter some difficulty accessing certain software under System 7.x. Please refer to "Nautilus and System 7.x" in the <RE> This Issue> folder of this disc for further explanation.
STAYING IN TOUCH
We strongly encourage you to get in touch with us and help us make Nautilus the product that meets your needs for CD ROM information. The Nautilus Link is a great way to do just that.
Note that you can Link toll free in the US, Canada and the Caribbean.
When you contact us via the Nautilus Link, your first uplink (from each issue) includes information on your basic system configuration using a standard Apple feedback XCMD. This confidential information allows us to better analyze any problems you may report, and can be deleted should you prefer.
You should use your Subscriber Identification number (SI) whenever you contact us. Your SI is much like an account number password -- it is a unique identifier that ensures your confidentiality. Because the SI is confidential, we provide it only through the mail -- never over the phone. You should receive your SI through the mail just before you receive the first disc of your Nautilus subscription. If you should lose your SI, simply contact Nautilus Customer Service, and they will be happy to mail it to you again.
